Saturday December 7
All the trails on Russian Ridge below the reservoir are ice free and actually quite nice right now. The mud is frozen enough that things aren't too mushy but there is virtually no surface ice to slip on. There are bear tracks in numerous locations, especially right above Selief. This is where the town bears like to hang out, so just be aware.

We did the upper mountain yesterday and it'd was surprising fast. Watch out for the icy patches. The trail work by the man shelter is good and technical and provided an exit to our excursion around the woods. We had to pedal back up the power-line trail to hit the drop a few times.
