To get in shape for the summer, I have been doing hikes from my house in town. The closest good climbs are the Three Sisters, so this spring I have been doing some trips over there via Pillar Mtn. The SE side (the Pillar Creek side) of the Sisters is now largely snow free and nice (if strenous) to walk up. Most of the ridges are steep and rugged but negotiable as long as you don't have a fear of heights and are sure-of-foot. Goats frequent the Sisters in the springtime, and the views of Monashka are lovely.
