I this hike a couple years ago and decided to do it again today with the minus 1.7 tide at 11:39 am. I left Fossil Beach at 10:30 am wearing chest waders and felt-soled boots (I know) which provided better traction on wet rocks than ordinary lug soles. After about 45 minutes of navigating kelp beds, tidepools, wet and dry rocks, I hit the gravel beach and changed to hiking boots. Saw a dead female bison who appeared to have fallen off the bluff yesterday or today; I picked up two nice crab buoys for our collection. The gravel beach is easy going and when you turn the corner to head to the lagoon, it becomes these wonderful flat rock shelves that make for very easy walking. Saw about 40 harbor seals in their usual spot, including 6 sitting up on a rock. Returned along the lagoon and the old road to Fossil Beach. Total hike about 3 hours with breaks. Sunny and calm, so I took my time and enjoyed sitting in the sun. Photos here: www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151554085709242.1073741825.547479241
