I popped into Orion's on my way home today and noticed they had a lot of their XC skis at about 30% off. They had Rossi EVO Trail skis in most sizes for $150. I personally think those are the best classic skis made for Kodiak (light, fast, plenty floaty at 68mm shovel, no wax), and the price is very nice. I would definitely go for the EVO Trail skis over the Glades and other narrower Rossi models. Just an FYI if anyone is contemplating some nice boards while stuck inside looking out at the rain. Remember, it may snow again.

It will snow again. And I don't have a pair of waxless skiis either.. ... .

And I will also add that it is always risky to buy XC or backcountry gear in Anchorage or online unless you already know what you want. The conditions are VERY different in Anchorage and they'll often try to sell you what works in Anchorage (ie skiis for groomed trails or deep powder at Alyeska). Plus Steve at Orions will fix stuff if it breaks! I know 'cause I break stuff all the time. Patrick

I ski waxless almost exclusively due to Kodiak's crazy changing snow conditions - they're pretty good for almost all conditions.

I was in Orion's the other day and the skis are still nice and cheap. I'm half tempted to get a second set of the EVO Trails to mount with different bindings. Love those skis for our conditions.

All that said - I bet I know which wax would work today! Extra Blue!
