No kidding, a thumbs up, and before you think 'oh that's just Patrick posting - it's always good when he goes skiing' - hear me out. Yesterday the Coast Groomed a double track on the golf course for classic skiing! Today it was covered by about an inch of new slush. When I went around noon it was not raining and the sun even came out for a moment. Definetly, given what I was expecting, a thumbs up kind of day.
Up in Anchorage the Uber Ski Trail wardens (who are against all things not directly related to Nordic skiing like dogs, snowshoes, runners, or bikes) do not like it when people ski when the conditions are so soft because they create ruts that freeze and are hard to groom out. For this reason I only skiied in one track and tried to leave the other for after it freezes. I'll note that it is not likely to freeze in the next couple of days and that when it does I'll be skate skiing.
One last note - as of 1 PM the road to the golf course is terrible. It has not been ploughed past the bridge before the antenna field and is just a rut that you high center along and hope no one is coming the other way. BAD. But if you get to the golf course the going is good. Patrick
