The wet snow followed by 22 deg F this a.m. suggested skate skiing Salonie to Lisa and me. No problem staying on top, and the pole baskets didn't punch through, either. Happy feet were essential on the road below the range due to old tracks etc. We had to look around a few minutes to find a spot to cross open water about .75 mi above the range. Once on the Salonie creekbed, flat light and somewhat bumpy snow were a bit of a problem, but overall it was awesome crust cruising. The best skiing was just below the canyon, where it was smoother, flatter, and the light was better. I turned around at the first open water in the canyon, and the trip back was a breeze--probably never have skiied to the canyon and back with less effort.
Happy Valentines' Day to all, Lisa and Gregg
