We did it again: the climb of Barometer Mt. with my traditional summer headstand on top, this year during the Audubon hike on July 4th. Clear skies and clean air allowed visibility of the volcanos on the pensinula. I shocked a few fellow hikers with my head stand when I donned my Tai-dye underpants which Herta had given me for my 69th birthday. 11 hikers made it to the top in less than 2 hours, coming from as far away as Philadelphia and Mexico City. Next day I led again an Audubon hike to Pyramid Mt. and we climbed over still considerable snow fields to the top and descended along the long ridge all the way to the golf course. It is a gentle descent with great views. The last part gets pretty brushy, since few hikers use this beautiful route. We had arranged for a car shuttle back to the pass. The perhaps youngest climber ever, 7 year old Devon Cummiskey, did a hand stand on top of Pyramid next to perhaps the oldest climber doing his head stand. 7 hikers enjoyed the warm, sunny weather and clear views of ocean bays and distant mountains. Among the hikers were Heather Preece and her intrepid daughters Marina and Devon as well as Diana, an enthusiastic fan of Kodiak, here on her umpteenth visit from Maine.
