We brought both snowboards and cross country skiis and did a bit of both. We started by snowboarding the lower slopes of Bear Mountain, but the snow that low was really heavy and we triggered a small slide - not the most fun. In the interest of time and since we didn't know the road conditions further up the mountain, we decided to just go classic skiing up the Buskin canyon. We went up as far as we could go and made a new track, which should be fun for anyone who follows until it freezes again. It seems like things are warming up quickly - I wonder how long we'll be able to ski up the canyon without falling in in some of the narrower places. What a beautiful Easter! I hope everyone was able to enjoy it.

Skiied classic across the lake today and met two other skiiers. Went up the river almost to the canyon. The track is good except where it was wiped out by snow machiners - what's with the snowmachiners on the Buskin? I thought the area was closed to mechanized transport.
However, the pole plant is very soft. Also the new snow pushed down the ice and there is overflow under the snow.
But all and all pretty good conditions. Powder in the tracks! Patrick
