A very nice paddle that is close to down is to do a loop around Woody Island. Today was beautifully calm, and despite the snow everywhere the air was not too cold for a paddle. I went around counter-clockwise from Mission Beach.
I counted no fewer than 27 deer noshing down on kelp on the Woody Is beaches!! I have never seen that many deer in one day, let alone in 2 hours.
[Note to self: finish your kayak-mounted harpoon cannon!!]
Anyway, it wasn't all rainbows and mermaids- I did some work too. I collected and deflated crab buoys for Adelia's setnet site.
It's nice to live in a place with so many recreational options about 30 seconds from your doorstep.
