The trail was in better shape than we expected. We hiked out the coastal trail and back through the forest. Mostly advanced TG (sugar) snow on top of frozen ground with an occasional section of snow-covered ice in lower areas. The trail got better the further from the parking lot we hiked. Passed Peter Longrich trucking along heading opposite direction. We also ran across a tent at the second beach collapsed with food and other detritus inside it. We brought back some garbage, but had small day packs. If you are headed out there, please try to pack out some of the garbage, especially food. We saw no bear sign anywhere on our hike.

I forgot to add that someone had done quite a bit of trail clearing, mostly sawing up logs that were across the trail and removing them. Either a biker or, I suspect, a motard as the last time I observed this type of clearing, someone rode a trailbike on the Three Bear Cove trail and left deep ruts and scars.
