Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that there was a sow and cub on boy scout trail today. We all know bears are a part of Kodiak but since it is winter we are all accustomed to leaving the bear spray at home. No interaction or sighting to report, just some fresh tracks.

I saw a bear running on Lake Genevieve yesterday as I was going by on my way to ski at Upper Buskin.

Today I saw the tracks of a cub on Genevieve - he/she wandered all over and no sow tracks to be seen. OK skate skiing too - but the far end is never safe. Follow the beat in loop and you are good. I think it will be good tomorrow if it freezes hard. Today it was a little slushy, but frozen hard with a skim of new snow would be good. Patrick

Genevieve had some pretty good skate skiing today (2/22), but Zoya did not like the classic skiing because she did not sink in enough to make a track. About an inch of powder on a good crust that you sink into about an inch. Pretty perfect skate skiing and so so classic.
No fresh cub tracks.
