We headed up the American Saturday about 2:30 p.m. Two snowmobiles had been up the road; one left chunks of crust in the track whereas the other left corduroy (guess which we followed?). Not bad on the road and once onto the river, about as good as classic skiing gets around here. We cut off the snowmo track and broke trail up into the canyon to right and continued to open water--beautiful. Off the track snow was pretty crusty and inconsistent, but now there's a track. Return ski was about 1.5 hrs.
Overall, highly recommended. It is not good for skate skiing--we took both, tried skate first, and were very happy to also have classic gear with us.
