The Kodiak Island Borough has an excellent online GIS viewer available on their website that allows you to look around in a Google Earth interface where all land parcel outlines are shown, and you can click on most parcels to see ownership info. It is worth a look if you have ever wondered where the public lands are, or what access issues may exist (i.e. private land). You will need to install MS Silverlight, but once you have that the interface is easy and intuitive, and the site is very well done. www.arcgis.com/explorer/?open=1ca27d82be614e34886b4a22003fedd4

VERY VERY cool, and I just spent about a half hour flitting about the island. But Beware - I did find that there are mistakes. For instance, the recent BIA vetran alotments still show up as USFWS when in reality they are no longer are part of the refuge but are private land. But in general, pretty darn accurate and very cool! Patrick
