It was quite fast. The sun came out and the wind was calm. Temps around freezing or just above at 5pm. Beautiful afternoon out there. The track is still frozen but after grinding my toes through it yesterday it is wide enough so that I only got my foot stuck a few times today. A light dusting of new snow has freshened it up and the gliding was very good, as was the kick grip. Poling is positive. We are staying off the road and just going around the lake and then up the river into the canyon. The track is well developed and nice to ski in. Adelia and I went to the big hole in the snow half way up the canyon and turned around. It was a very nice ski aside from the few grabby sections in the track. I can recommend it pretty much without reservation at this point.

Great today too - and no April Fools either. I skate skiied across the lake and checked out the golf course, and then back across the lake and up the river. Like two days ago about a 1/2 mile up the river (about where the old road ends) it suddenly becomes breakable. Today I just jumped into the classic track and double poled a good ways up into the canyon. I went thru once at high speed and knocked the wind out of myself I stopped so fast - should make for an amusing track analysis for the next person who uses the trail. The classic track is great - wide enough to ski easily and just a little powder in the bottom. Really just like groomed tracks! So good classic skiing and good skate skiing too. Patrick

Still great today (Thursday). Definitely warmer and the snow pack has softened down to an ice layer about 18" below the surface. The track has widened and there is no fear of getting your feet stuck. It is SUPER fast. Great spring-like conditions tonight.
It feels like rain right now, and there is snow in the forecast.
