Starting at the gate at 2 pm on waxless skis, I skied the road, woods, and creek back to the canyon. The center hump of the road was good, the woods were OK (lots of deer and human tracks in places, and the creek was superb for most of the way. Firm base with just enough loose snow for excellent classic skiing. The air and snow temp were ideal for waxless skis. ;D When the snow deepened farther up the creek, progress was slowed a bit. The ski back on the creek in my tracks was great. However, warming temps and some mixed snow/rain caused the woods and road snow conditions to deteriorate. There was mixed snow and rain and gusty wind most of the afternoon. Given last night's sub-freezing temps and today's sun, I suspect conditions will be good for classic. ms

I'm jealous that you were able to get out today. The morning looked just stunning. Oh, and you get extra credit for appropriate use of emoticons.
