I skate skiied up Salonie Creek in the early afternoon and it was excellent. Sort of ball bearings that were very fast and you sank in about 1/4 inch. In places there was powder below the ball bearings. It sounds a lot like Buskin Yesterday. Classic would be good too and it did seem to be softening up a bit by the time I got back to the truck. Up in the Salonie Canyon the soft snow got too deep to skate ski and i had to turn around. Looks like the canyon filled in with blown snow, and a thin crust on top. You'd have to classic ski to get up to the ice fall.
