I just got back from skate skiing up Salonie Creek - excellent conditions - and really the road into the rifle range is not all that bad. If you stick to the trail after the rifle range you never even have to take your skiis off. Up in the canyon the conditions were breakable and too soft for effective skating, but fast everywhere else. Even with the breakable conditions I still made it to the ice fall in less than 50 minutes. It has softened up on the slopes facing the sun, but you do not break thru. I bet Buskin lake would be great this afternoon, but by late afternoon the golf course might be too soft.
I bet the south bowl of Pyramid would be great this afternoon. Has anyone been up lately?
