Thumbs up if you are skate skiing - a big thumbs down to classic cross country skiing. At the outlet to the lake it is very windy - no fun at all until you get across the lake or to the far shore near the golf course. Up above the lake in the trees you hardly notice the wind. The snow has not softenned up at all and it is very fast.
On my way home I skate skiied around the lake (you start to get up screaming speed going downwind) and checked out the golf course. That would be a good place to go - good conditions and the wind seems a lot less. Also, you could access the lake the same way I did from here and go up the river if you felt like it. Just follow my tracks to get on the lake.
I bet the protected side of Lake Genivieve would be good too.

Pretty much exactly the same conditions today. Fast skate skiing but windy at the outlet. Parick

Buskin Lake was great for skate skiing again today - scary fast sometimes I saw Bryan, Aaren and friend out there enjoying it too. What a beautiful day!

Today (2/23) in the early afternoon the conditions were excellent! No wind and quite warm in the sun, the crust perfectly soft and very fast. I did a few laps of the lake and golf course and also sped up into the canyon. Looks like we might have these conditions for a few days.

Buskin looks like the place to be! I left there at about 5:45 and I think there were 6 other people skate skiing (or maybe 7) and 2 walking. I didn't know there were that many skate skiiers on the island! I think the message board must be working. Fun. The crust on the lake was not soft by the time I got there, but it was still great.

Today I went in the early afternoon. It was snowing for a bit - but the conditions still very fast and perfect. I went all the way up the canyon too. Nothing has changed still perfect for skate skiing! Patrick
