With 70 deg. temp. in Kodiak and the longer walks to get to snow, Sharon and I decided to spend last weekend on 4th of July pass and get some summer ski touring and turns in behind Bells Flats.
I dug a pit at 2700 ft on 4th of July pass and measured the snowpack depth at 54 inches on the flat area, so there should still be good skiing there in July.
Over all the skiing was good especially on the steeper slopes but a little slow on the lower angle here and there with some weird icy sections that would speed you up then you'd hit the slow grabby snow, like someone hit the brake, oh what fun!
On the way out we were able to ski almost all the way down to the 4th of July trail marker at upper Sargent creek.
