:)I went up Pyramid with Lisa and Gregg - all sorts of people showed up and went up at the same time. Pyramid was a popular place today! Anyway - we only went up to 1700 feet because it was a white out up above that - so we did not get a chance to check on the snow cave. But I am sure that others did get that far. Especially since the weather seems to have improved since I got back. Anyway, another 2-3 inches of new snow up high and glop down low. It actually seems even slower today below 1000 feet than it did yesterday. Now the good snow is all up high. It seems to get better the higher you climb. I skiied out on the waterfall run and set off some slo mo avalanches near the bottom. So below 1000 feet it is not stable and slush avalanches are a possiblity. I did not have my beacon on because I locked it in the car with the keys . That's another story. Patrick

At least we'd be able to find your car if it was buried

Today I went up around 1:30 and the light was a little flat - some clouds overhead. The south bowl was not great - crusty, half warmed and inconsistant, but not bad if you skiied agressively. The 3 tree run was very soft and sliding pretty badly. I had to rip it to keep ahead of the slush slides. Slo mo bruisers. So be careful!
Also check out the HUGE avalanche in the Easter Sunday bowl up behind the antenna field. It looks like it broke a couple of meters deep at the headwall (has to be big to see it from the road) and it broke along about a kilometer of the face. It's the biggest avalanche I've ever seen on Kodiak. I wonder what the pile of snow looks like at the bottom. Patrick
