Went alpine on Pyramid after work. Not bad, but not the epic conditions I was expecting either. It did not freeze below 1500 feet - so all isothermic glop down low. Pretty wet - so good bases and wax are critical! Gregg and Lisa's tracks from last night had new snow in them above 1200 feet. Up above 1500 feet it is all sun warmed, wind packed powder and scour. Actually better skiing down low, but North and West facing slopes might be good because they have not warmed up in the sun.
The sun did warm the top of the south bowl and it is very inconsistent 'breakable' powder that is pretty slow because it never corned up. Not good. The three tree run was the best part of my run.
Also the cornice on the cornice run broke and there was a HUGE avalanche. It partially filled the gravel quarry.

I don't feel so bad about staying low after reading your report. We need a couple nights of below freezing to harden things up.

Patrick we are so happy to see you are now a 'Junior Member' of this message board! Congratulations!
When you become a 'Senior Member' let's have a party.
Special shout out to S & S, who skiied Pyramid Friday afternoon, ran into Lisa and I while they were driving down, turned around and went up again with us!
Best skiing was in the slushy mank down low--point 'em and giggle snow, I call it.
