The spousal unit and I just hiked through Abercrombie, entering and exiting at Parkside. The trails on that side of the lake and around the lake are primarily hard ice with water on top. A few clear patches, but the ice continues off of the trails, so it's almost impossible to go around or avoid it. We wear the Kahloola spikes which, being mini-crampons, allow us to walk safely. YakTrax would be suicidal. We saw Patrick who was walking his dogs on leash due to the presence of deer in the park and in the nearby Cliffside neighborhood.

Yesterday I tried the trail that goes right from the log pile about 100 yards into the park from the Parkside entrance. Some ice just where the trail leaves the main drag - but then ice free loop along the cliffs by the water. The hotlink below shows why I have been walking with my dogs on leashes. I saw this guy/gal just before I got to the park. Patrick 2.bp.blogspot.com/_TyBL8nOXHes/Sen97IqC5uI/AAAAAAAAEDM/nn5Q0L7FbCo/s1600-h/IMGP1745.jpg
