Saturday February 9 Today I hiked out the Pillar Reservoir Bench trail and climbed the South Sister. I was a tiny bit concerned looking at the S Sister from the road as it is a bit steep in spots, and there was snow the top. I needn't have worried though. With microspikes it was no problem all the way to the summit. The trail is nicely trimmed and easy to follow, and you don't really hit snow until you are on the summit ridge where it flattens out. If you don't know where the trail leaves the Pillar Bench trail then life is a little more complicated. But if you hike out the bench and look at the SE ridge of the S Sister, the trail up should be relatively obvious this time of year. Someday, hopefully, there will be a sign at the junction. After leaving the bench trail and about 1k' up the SE ridge of the South Sister: At about 1200' looking back down. Snow was a non-issue: On the summit ridge where it flattens out, I finally hit firm snow: Looking north towards the Middle and North sisters. You could probably (very carefully) climb both (VERY carefully!):
