A few years ago I flew down to Alitak to the cannery at Lazy Bay and hiked up through the refugium to Larsen Bay via Red Lake and the outlet of Karluk Lake. This time I swung out to the Shelikof Strait and followed that as far north as Grant Lagoon before heading east to Larsen Bay. It was a 90-mile trip and took 5 days. It was classic south end hiking with no brush, rolling hills and mountains, beautiful beaches and steep capes, and generally pleasant hiking (aside from some sections of hummocks). See it here: Alitak to Larsen Bay via Shelikof Strait

What size pack do you use for these types of multi-day hikes?

For purely backpacking trips up to 3 days, I take a 2400 cu in (40 L) pack. Up to a week backpacking I’ll take a 3400 cu in (55 L). If I’m packrafting or doing something more gear intensive, I’ll go up to 4000 cu in (65 L). That’s with a base weight (everything other than food and water and the clothes I am wearing during the day, or specialized gear like for packrafting or snow travel) of around 17 pounds.
