Howdy,
I recently moved to Kodiak in August and am stoked to be here. I am looking for safe backcountry adventurers to get out and explore with. AIARE Level I avy course, nationally registered EMT, and have AT set up w/all the backcountry safety gear. Thanks!

Hello, and welcome.
It may take a while before 'winter' asserts itself in any meaningful way snow-wise, but I'm sure when it does you will get a chance to meet plenty of the locals out doing their things. Pyramid Mountain, at the top of Anton Larsen Bay Rd pass, is basically ground zero for BC skiing. That's the place to start and get your bearings. In mid winter with the short days people tend to dart out and take advantage of the daylight when they can, but later towards spring the skiing gets more social with longer days and better conditions. You can never tell how early winter will shape up 'round these parts. It's best to have low expectations, sharp edges, and maybe a bright headlamp.
Cheers, P
