Greetings Kodiak winter enthusiasts!
This board is meant for XC and skate skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers, randonnée/AT and telemark skiers, and other non-motorized winter activity freaks to post current condition reports so that the community can make better and more targeted use of their valuable free time.
Please feel free to register and post any snow-related reports. This could include ice skating conditions.
Desired information would include the date/day conditions were observed, extent of snow coverage, surface conditions, recommended routes and access information, thoughts on weather or hazards (lake ice thickness or avalanche danger), and so forth. Basically anything that would help other folks decide what would be fun to do for the afternoon, or what areas to avoid.
Feel free to add to an existing thread or start a new one. Maybe we will create a sticky for hot destinations like Pyramid Mountain so locals could find the most pertinent information fast. If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to contact the administrator (Philip).
If you have an image hosting account like on Flickr, you can embed your images in your post. A lot of photo hosting sites will provide an address you can paste directly into your message.
Now please post what you know about current conditions!!

Hey guys, When you post a new message, it would be helpful if you put the following information in the subject line of the post: - the location you visited
- the type of activity you did
- the day and date
- a one or two word indication of the conditions (e.g. good, bad, marginal, etc) or use a message icon from the pulldown menu (e.g. thumbs up, thumbs down, smiley, sad, etc)
An example would be: ;D Sunday Feb 8, Pyramid, snowboard, nice powder! If we have a dozen generic Pyramid Mountain posts with no dates, it may be hard to figure out what is newest. Though the threads will order chronologically when first created, if someone replies it will get bumped back to the top of the page. Thanks!

It's easy to make a post to the message board! First, click the new thread icon: In the next window, enter the following information: Note that your window may look slightly different than in the image shown here. That's it. Easy!

Some folks here may be newbies when it comes to posting images on the interwebs. If you ever wanted to learn how to impress everyone out there on the world wide web message boards, here is your chance to learn. I have broken the whole process down into a series easy steps that will take you from image posting zero to hero. This tutorial looks long, but that is only because I have included a screen shot of every single step of the process. Also, you will only have to do some of these once since you will be registering (or logging in) with Flickr, and in the future you can skip those steps. First, go to Flickr.com and open an account. Flickr is owned by Yahoo, so if you already have a Yahoo account, you can just log right in. Step one: type flickr.com into your browser and hit the link that says "Create your account".On the next page, either sign in to your Yahoo account (if you already have yahoo mail or similar) or click the link that says "sign up".Let's assume this is your first time on the internet and you don't have a Yahoo account. The next step is to fill in the fields on the sign up page. The hardest part is figuring out what the security code says and typing it into the field. I think this one says "VJLFAe"[/b][/color] Next, click "carrot" (triangle) next to the link that says "You", and from the menu that pops up select "Upload Photos and Videos" [/b][/color] Next, click the huge link that says "Choose photos and videos" and when the browse window pops up, locate the image(s) you want to show the world, then click OK or Select or whatever...[/b][/color] You should see a list of the pics you have selected. Make sure the "Public" radio button is clicked, and then hit the "Upload Photos and Videos" link:[/b][/color] After the upload is complete, you will get a page like this:[/b][/color] Click the link that says "add a description"...
...and on the next page, just click on the image itself...[/b][/color] Above the pic, click the link that says "Actions" and choose "View all sizes"[/b][/color] Next, click on a reasonable size (I like pics that are around 1,000 pixels in the long dimension) and then right-click on the picture itself, and choose "Copy image location" (for Firefox), or "Copy Image Address" (Safari), or "Copy Image URL" (Chrome). The location of the picture is now in memory (on the clipboard) ready to be pasted.[/b][/color] Lastly, put this code inside tags in the body of your message. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE SLASH (/) IN THE CLOSING img TAG![/b][/color] When you are done, post your message and let the world enjoy your pics too.[/b][/color]
